The construction of the winterproof awning
Winter awnings are made of particularly thick and strong material, some of which is coated and easy to wash off. The material for winter awnings must remain elastic even at low temperatures and must not break. Extra strong zip fasteners and very strong poles, usually with additional support, give your winter awning stability even under heavy snow loads. The poles are usually made of stainless steel and can withstand heavy loads well.
Winter-proof awnings are slightly smaller, insulated and the roof is more inclined than normal all-season awnings or caravan awnings. Due to the steep roof slope, the snow slides down more quickly and the more compact design is more resistant to extreme weather conditions. The nature of winter awnings is naturally reflected in the weight, but in return you get a top equipped tent for the cold season.
Tent Technology winter awning - tested in Lapland under extreme conditions
Some time ago we gave the Tent Technology caravan awning Casa Royal to our Finnish sales force for testing. The colleague set up the tent in front of his caravan in Lapland and simply forgot about it in the dark during the cold season. It has been set up for several years and is still doing its job there today. The Casa Royal passed the test in the extreme Finnish weather with flying flags!

With a winter awning you simply leave the wet stuff outside and can go through a "weather lock" directly into the warm and dry interior of your caravan or motor home. With a tent heater you can keep your awning slightly heated and dry. A matching awning carpet leaves the snow masses in front of the door. Keep the cold and wet out of the winter-proof awning, preferably by using an additional waterproof floor. This can be a tarp as a tent underlay or the practical floor tiles. This will give you a fairly well insulated winter awning floor and cold feet in the awning are the exception rather than the rule.
Year-round awning or winter awning?
All in all, the all-season awnings offer you, as the name suggests, the possibility to enjoy your camping holiday all year round. Thanks to the particularly weatherproof materials, winter awnings and all-year-round awnings offer protection in almost any weather.
