How do you reduce the noise level in the driver's cabin of campervans / camper vans?
Experience shows that most noise comes from the engine or body vibrations. Some noise reduction measures have proven to be effective:
- Insulate large sheet metal surfaces in the engine compartment against vibrations.
- If possible, insulate the bulkhead between the engine compartment and the driver's cab. (often very difficult)
- Line the floor pan of the cab with sound insulation mats.
- For panel vans, coat the sheet metal floor of the vehicle and the side walls with the anti-drumming mats and/or the acoustic fleece.
This means that at an average of 80km per hour, if your campervan is well utilised, you should be able to roar and shout in the driver's cab for about 125 hours a year. Whether it's about the direction, the water bottle or the parking aid, either way it's not a nice idea, is it?
The sound-absorbing mats or anti-drumming mats offered here will not solve the problem completely, but they could reduce some of the unwanted noise (passenger excluded). This way you will not have the hum of the motorway in your ears and after parking you can enter the long awaited holiday mode relatively quickly.
