Flexible Solar Panels, Curved Solar Panels
Flexible solar panels: 80W, 100W, 115W, 130W and 160W Flexible solar panels, also-called curved solar panels to glue and stick on:
- for challenging installation conditions
Flexible solar panels can be conveniently placed on curved surfaces, they hardly increase the vehicle height, they are insensitive and often able to be walked-on. All things considered the flexible solar panels are an excellent alternative to rigid 12v solar panels. Simply choose the right place on the roof, stick it on, do not forget the roof duct and solar charge controller, connect and install it - done! The flexible solar panels have originally been produced for the marine sector. We have successfully built them on the vans of Reimo Van Concept for many years. A low construction height, weather resistance and relatively undemanding processing make the flexible solar panels perfect for VW buses and other vans.

Walk-on solar cells fit on curved and limited roof surfaces
The flexible solar modules or walkable solar cells originally come from the marine sector.
Walk-on solar cells are designed to be firmly bonded to the curved surface of sailboats. Flex panels are salt water resistant and can withstand all weather conditions. This makes Flex Panels perfect for campers, motorhomes and caravans. Flexible solar modules are ideal for mounting on curved pop-up roofs and high roofs. The installation of a flexible thin-film module saves a lot of weight and, of course, height.
We have compiled a small guide to solar for motorhomes, caravans and camping for you under Vehicle conversion: Motorhome solar system!
Flexible solar panels, a little guidebook
We could talk for a long time about how and why a flexible solar panel works. But such information already exists. You can find information on photovoltaic cells, for example, on Wikipedia in the topic Differentiating solar cells!
Therefore, here is just a practical report on the subject of bonded solar panels:
Flexible solar panels may only be installed and operated in a bonded manner. The contacts in the panel are sensitive.
A story I experienced myself: A flexible solar panel was taken on holiday in a cardboard box and was to be used for a different purpose later. It was wobbled through in the boot and reconnected at every campsite for 4 weeks. The constant vibration and twisting on the trip damaged the contacts in the flex panel and they broke. Unfortunately, this kind of damage can no longer be repaired. The outcry was, of course, great. Although the customer from this example could be helped, the warranty processing was not fun.
Please use the bendable solar cells only permanently installed!

Do flexible solar panels deliver less electricity when there is too much sun?
The answer to this question is clear: no, they do not; you can rely on the specifications of the power plant. The conventional 12V solar panel delivers just as much power as the bonded one. However, heat is a problem for every solar cell. Solar panels produce optimally at about 20 degrees Celsius (the temperature of the panel). This optimum of current looks different as soon as it gets hot. At 60 degrees on the panel, it is already about 20% less. A black camping bus roof with a black panel glued to it can easily reach 90 degrees and more on hot days. This is the advantage of conventional mounting of 12 V solar modules. Installation with a bracket creates a small gap between the roof and the panel. This ventilates the solar panel from below and cools it down a little. This opportunity does not exist with a glued solar panel. That's why we have white flexible solar panels in our range, especially for easily heated van roofs. These do not get quite as hot as their black counterparts and produce more electricity on hot days.
3-year warranty on Carbest Flex panels!
The monocrystalline high-performance cells and the surfaces made of EFTE or TPT of the flexible Carbest modules convince with their durability. Because of this quality, we are happy to give you a 3-year warranty on Carbest Flex panels. Carbest produces flexible modules with the power levels 80W, 100W, 115W, 130W and 160W. So you get the right capacity even for higher power consumption, for example for tablet, laptop and co.
The flexible Carbest panels have a long tradition at Reimo. It became clear early on that this type of structure has immense advantages for camping buses and panel vans. For example, a VW bus with a solar system and a flat pop-up roof can still drive into most underground garages. A few years ago, this idea was absolutely unthinkable. But technology is advancing and the innovations in alternative power supply are certainly far from complete. For example, the solar panel 12V flexible, 160W. To save additional height, the connection box of the Flex Panel has been moved to the underside. This way, the connection box lies safely in the roof of the vehicle and is stowed "underground garage safe".
