Flexible solar panels may only be installed and operated in a bonded manner. The contacts in the panel are sensitive.
A story I experienced myself: A flexible solar panel was taken on holiday in a cardboard box and was to be used for a different purpose later. It was wobbled through in the boot and reconnected at every campsite for 4 weeks. The constant vibration and twisting on the trip damaged the contacts in the flex panel and they broke. Unfortunately, this kind of damage can no longer be repaired. The outcry was, of course, great. Although the customer from this example could be helped, the warranty processing was not fun.

Do flexible solar panels deliver less electricity when there is too much sun?
The answer to this question is clear: no, they do not; you can rely on the specifications of the power plant. The conventional 12V solar panel delivers just as much power as the bonded one. However, heat is a problem for every solar cell. Solar panels produce optimally at about 20 degrees Celsius (the temperature of the panel). This optimum of current looks different as soon as it gets hot. At 60 degrees on the panel, it is already about 20% less. A black camping bus roof with a black panel glued to it can easily reach 90 degrees and more on hot days. This is the advantage of conventional mounting of 12 V solar modules. Installation with a bracket creates a small gap between the roof and the panel. This ventilates the solar panel from below and cools it down a little. This opportunity does not exist with a glued solar panel. That's why we have white flexible solar panels in our range, especially for easily heated van roofs. These do not get quite as hot as their black counterparts and produce more electricity on hot days.
